You awoke today a free citizen.
Thank a veteran.
It's a tiny token toward a debt that can never be fully repaid.
Thanks to my dad, an Air Force veteran, and to my brother, active Navy, soon-to-be Navy doctor.
To uncles, cousins and friends who sacrificed your time, left your families and friends behind, put your education and career on hold, lost blood, body parts and buddies in strange lands, and returned very changed and not nearly appreciated enough:
"Thank you" sounds so inadequate.
I say it with a heart that cannot comprehend what you've seen and been through; a heart that is brimming with gratitude for your service.
Thank you.
